You know that feeling when you get to work at a new -to- you venue and you’re absolutely giddy at the opportunity? You scour google to find pictures, reviews and of course directions. And then, on your first site visit, all of your thoughts and excitement are confirmed!
That’s how we felt as we drove up the slopes of the hillside to Villa Nove Vineyards earlier this month. To say it was a breathtaking view is an understatement. Y’all know we love mountain views, and we’re no stranger to the beauty of East Tennessee (proud Carter County gal here)..but this was transcendent as I moved through the iron gates.
It was as if someone plucked a piece of Italy up and somehow transported it to the mountains in Johnson County, Tennessee. As I continued to drive up, I first saw the Tuscan inspired pavilion with its nice new deck outside .. perfect for event guests who want to take in the fresh mountain air and the rolling hillside.
I turned to drive up to the main house to meet my client. She had a dream of having her wedding in front of the house. I rounded the corner to find the most amazing fountain and then again..that view. I cannot keep talking about the beauty.
Linda Gay, the Owner, warmly greeted me..as did Alex her sweet poodle. He’s a cutie! You immediately feel at home and in the company of friends. I knew exactly why my client had chosen this place, it was the perfect spot for her destination wedding. We walked the property and chatted about setups and details..Linda didn’t miss a beat. She offered tips and history of previous weddings, which was great to me as although I’m pretty seasoned, knowing pitfalls ahead of time are a huge time saver. Who doesn’t want to know the secret sauce to a successful event directly from the Owner right?
After our site visit, and on my way back down..I couldn’t resist stopping in the drive to grab this photo. I’d say that’s well worth a thousand or more words.
The wedding day quickly approached and we had great resources. We watched the weather intently and made a couple of revisions to the ceremony site, but ended right back where the Bride had dreamed (SO happy that happened). Wayne, Linda’s Husband and Co-Owner, was right there to help out! Stacking and moving chairs and guess what? We got set up (rain plan and all) with a few mins to spare.
It was a beautiful affair…wildflowers in a vineyard, doesn’t that sound perfect? And to be completely transparent, I think the overcast sky will make for Ah-MAZIN images! It was just perfect.
A bit more detail about the venue:
- Parking is ample (just ask Linda some direction on how to have your guests park).
- Having a back-up plan like the covered pavilion is great- although we didn’t have to use the area, it was great to have just in case.
- There are some great local and professional resources in the area! Linda suggested the DJ-Billy Gambill as well as the Photographer-Sweet T Photography. Both were so pleasant and went above and beyond..loved working with them.
- As I stated above, there is a new deck area, so our guests sat both outside and inside (although we had plenty of space inside). It’s just natural to want to take in that beauty!
- You also have use of the vineyard cottage for your wedding day to prep and get ready
- I hated to leave..wait, that’s not really a detail but more of a fact.
Overall, I’d highly recommend this beautiful establishment to someone who wants a Tuscan experience without flying overseas. OH..and the wine…please, it’s a no-brainer. I love the fact that you can actually have your rehearsal dinner at the Watauga Lake Winery. In addition to the wine, they also serve up wood fired pizza! How can you beat that?
We enjoyed our time and have a feeling, we’ll be back soon! Here’s a link to contact Villa Nove Vineyard, and if you decide you need a planner to pull it all together, it would be our pleasure to assist you! Here are a few images of our recent wedding (we’re not pros..can’t wait for them)!
